POLéMICA is a contemporary dance collective made up of seven Uruguayan performer-creators who, since 2021, have been developing artistic processes through a horizontal approach to creation. The members began sharing practices in 2019, exploring the dramatization of dance and its theatrical potential.

From these initial explorations, their work has moved toward the hybridization of languages, incorporating elements of dance-theatre, musical comedy, and a cinematic sensibility. Theatricality, humor, artifice, and play are recurring elements throughout their processes and creations.

The collective understands the stage as a space for shared thought, where composition emerges from the dialogue between individual singularities and where choreographic language expands into the performative, vocal, and dramaturgical.

Currently, the members are based in different territories, which fosters new forms of creation and encounter. Within this context, the collective remains open to different configurations within its own core, activating variable constellations of collaboration among its members depending on each process. In this way, POLéMICA persists as a flexible and continuously evolving practice, held together by a shared artistic drive that transcends distance.
